Founded in 2016, EnergyX Solutions Inc. is a marketing automation company that enables utilities to increase customer participation in energy efficiency programs while simultaneously lowering the utility’s cost to engage and serve a customer. Their MIT-award winning software platform, MyEnergyXpert, is white-label licensed by utilities and government organizations to hit their energy efficiency targets.
Savormetrics’ FoodSafe Analyzers provide a fully integrated, real-time food quality analysis tool. The integration of cutting-edge hardware and software technology allows for non-destructive quantitative and qualitative measurements of fresh food products. This technology can be used for a variety of purposes, including predicting the remaining shelf-life of produce or detecting unwanted chemicals in the food.
Karl Schabas, Managing Director
Before starting Verstra Ventures, Karl spent eight years as the Chief Strategy Officer at an operating group of Constellation Software. Karl would provide consulting and training to help companies grow and maximize their performance. He also assisted with new product initiatives at many companies in the portfolio. The experiences and techniques learnt from this role form the backbone of Verstra’s best practices. Karl has a masters in computer engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from London Business School.
Matan Hazanov, Senior Associate
Before joining Verstra Ventures, Matan spent 6 years building and helping startups as an entrepreneur, advisor, and investor. In his 4 years at Terracap Ventures, Matan was a key player in many transactions in the software, cleantech and agtech industries in North America and Israel. In his role, Matan advised portfolio companies on strategy, raising capital and building a sustainable competitive advantage. Matan has an International BBA from the Schulich School of Business.
